New special grabs for the Audi press shop
For the production of fully electric Audi models, precise and high-performance lifting and handling solutions are an important part of the manufacturing processes. With two specially developed grabs from Pfeifer, powerful devices for the safe and efficient handling of coils and pressing tools have now been delivered.
The two special grabs are designed for heavy loads and support a reliable material flow as well as precise work processes in the press shop. In addition to the high working load limit, the focus is in particular on safety, positioning accuracy, and efficient maintenance.
Telescope coil grab with 35 tonne working load limit
A Pfeifer telescope coil grab is used for handling coils in the press shop. With a working load limit of up to 35,000 kilograms, it enables the safe transport and precise positioning of heavy coils within production.
The most important technical data:
- Working load limit: 35,000 kg
- Dead weight: 2,100 kg
- Gripping range: 400 to 2,200 mm
- Inner height: 950 mm
- Rotation range of the integrated turning device: 380°
For safe operation, the coil grab features several technical safety functions. A blocking and damping unit supports the controlled movement of the grab. In addition, a mechanical load safety (system) prevents unintentional opening under load.
An integrated turning device with a rotation range of 380 degrees enables precise alignment of the picked-up coils. Extra-wide cut-off strips ensure that the closing movement is reliably stopped as soon as the defined cut-off range is reached.
Maintenance is also supported by the integrated technology. An electronic load cycle counter records the load cycles performed and thus provides important information for condition-based maintenance planning.
Pressing tool grab for loads up to 66 tonnes
The Pfeifer pressing tool grab, which was also delivered, meets even higher requirements. With a working load limit of up to 66,000 kilograms, it is designed for the precise handling of particularly heavy pressing tools.
Positioning is carried out via absolute encoders. An accuracy of plus or minus 5 millimetres is achieved. This enables controlled and precise positioning of the pressing tools and thus supports a safe and efficient manufacturing process.
The key technical data:
- Working load limit: 66,000 kg
- Working length: 2,850 to 4,250 mm
- Working width: 1,800 to 2,850 mm
- Positioning accuracy: plus or minus 5 mm
The dimensions of the grab can be adapted to different pressing tools and application situations. The working length is changed via trapezoidal threaded spindles. The working width is adjusted via a blocking and damping unit.
Safety and precise sensor technology
In developing the pressing tool grab, particular emphasis was placed on the safe handling of heavy loads and on precise monitoring of the working area.
